A competitive job applicant

As a May graduate, I have reached the point in the semester where I am applying to anything and everything that I could even remotely be capable at doing. While scanning the list of requirements for job applications, I have noticed there are a lot of “must have business background” or “business experience preferred.”

As a non-business major, these phrases make my stomach do a backflip. How could I possibly compete with fellow applicants that are likely so much more qualified than me? But then I remember that I completed the UNC Business Essentials program and I feel much more secure in sending in my application.

I know that the certificate makes me look more competitive – and it makes me feel more competitive, too. The confidence UBE has given me in the job search is unlike any of my other resume entries. While my work and internship experience is very valuable, there is a certain marketability with having the UNC Kenan-Flagler online business certificate proudly presented on my resume. The program has boosted my confidence and given me an edge in the business world, and I know I will be able to find the right job for me with its help.
