Flexibility and feedback

I completed the UNC Business Essentials online business certificate program this summer while working a full-time internship. The program is designed so that each participant can work on the course modules at their own pace, without having to abide by any strict guidelines. For me personally, this was the program’s greatest asset. I was able to work all day at the office, and then come home at night to complete sections of the course. Being able to move at my own speed gave me the opportunity to work in my free time, and even some weekends when I didn’t have much to do. Each lesson activity, quiz, written assignment and exam could be completed at any time and in any order, allowing me to keep track of my progress ensuring I would complete the program on time and learn valuable skills along the way.

Another huge asset of the program is the tutor feedback occurring throughout the units. Often times when I complete activities at my pace without anyone providing feedback, I fall into the trap of becoming lazy. However, to obtain the online business certificate I was required to submit written pieces to a tutor, ensuring that I was on track and grasping the concepts learned in the modules. The tutors are available at all times for participants to ask questions about difficult concepts, making it easy to get help in an area that proves to be challenging. Having a flexible program that adapted to my needs and tutors who were always willing to help really set the UBE program apart from other competitors, and I would highly recommend it for people wanting to gain valuable business knowledge.
