In my first years at Carolina, I was very science-oriented. Most of my classes consisted of science courses and I could usually be found in the dark, dungeon-like laboratories of Kenan two days out of the week. I had never really thought about the business world until my friends began participating in business cases and competitions through UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. It was then that I realized I did not have any business acumen and soon became intrigued by the field. I knew it was imperative that I learn the business essentials in order to further my education and be competitive in the workforce in whatever career path I choose.
One of the most attractive aspects of UNC Business Essentials was the flexibility that it provided me. With my involvement in extracurricular activities and a rigorous course load, I was worried that I would not have time to delve into the essentials of a business program and learn a substantial amount of material. However, when I heard about the UBE program, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. Due to all of the courses being online, it was easy for me to plan my schedule and control when and where to continue my UBE courses. In addition, with graduate level tutors available to me 24/7, I was able to ask questions and receive immediate feedback.
Throughout my coursework, I had the flexibility to travel and participate in an internship while learning quintessential business knowledge. Not only did I receive an online business certificate from a prestigious business school, but I feel that I have gained the knowledge, skills and confidence in business to be successful and marketable in my chosen career path.
