With our core values of community and teamwork, it’s not surprising that UNC Kenan-Flagler ranks in the top 10 in the Economist’s rankings for students’ perception of their alumni network. In fact, our alumni support students in many ways, from funding fellowships to serving as speakers, attending joint student/alumni events and more. A great way to support students day-in and day-out is to share your experience and expertise through our Alumni Career Advisors Network (ACAN).
ACAN offers a quick and easy way for alumni to make a direct impact on the career success of fellow alums and students by providing invaluable advice, insight and networking connections.
“I contacted six different alumni I found in the career advisors network. Every single person responded to my email, with several responding the same day. When you told me that they would be helpful, you weren’t kidding!”ACAN advisee
Advisors find that the Network is a particularly enriching way to give back to the school that helped launch or advance their professional life in a way that keeps the chain of mutual support and connection going.
Here’s what Advisors are saying about the value of the Network:
“I think it’s the responsibility of alumni to try to give back to the University, and being a resource for students is a meaningful way to do it.”
“A lot of people helped us along the way, so being a member of the [ACAN] Network is a great way to give back to those who follow us.”
“I encourage everyone to participate [in ACAN]. It’s a great opportunity to expand your personal and professional network while giving back to the UNC Kenan-Flagler program. It’s also a great opportunity to stay connected to the School and its programs.”
“It’s simple and not time consuming. What an easy way to give back!”
Both students and alumni are encouraged to join the Network – and the process is quick and easy. Simply complete the online advisor profile, where you can share information on your career background, offer leadership or career-preparation advice and indicate the types of support you are willing to provide, from sharing information on your functional area, company and industry to giving advice on classes or perspective on your geographic area.
