With only weeks left of my senior and final year at Carolina, I am happier than ever that I completed UNC Business Essentials. Looking back on my time completing the program to receive my online business certificate, three main points still stick out to me- the feasibility of the program despite your academic background, the new opportunities the program opens up, and the indispensable skills the program has given me.

The feasibility of UNC Business Essentials was one of the most surprising aspects of the program. To be honest, I was a little intimidated before I started the first modules. I thought, “An online business certificate from UNC Kenan-Flagler? This is about to be really difficult. I’m not sure I’m qualified to do this.” Fortunately, each module is designed to accommodate all student levels. Whether you have studied business in a classroom before or not, you will leave the program feeling much more knowledgeable and confident with a comprehensive business background.

Speaking of feeling knowledgeable and confident, a second great aspect of the program was the wide array of opportunities that opened up after I had an online business certificate from UNC Kenan-Flagler. As a Spanish language major, I didn’t think I was qualified to apply for finance or marketing jobs. Now with the online certificate, I know my resume will be considered with other business majors.

Even if you aren’t planning on using business in your career, the UNC Business Essentials Program gives you indispensable knowledge you will use in your everyday life. For me personally, the finance module has helped me become more responsible with my resources. Above all, no matter if you want to use business in your career or just in everyday life, don’t be intimidated by the program. You will leave with more opportunities and knowledge than you had before, and that is always worth it!
