Searching for a job is one of the more stressful times in a college student’s path to graduation. It is not enough to get a degree and then begin searching for a job – the process needs to start much earlier. The concepts learned in UNC Business Essentials, the online business certificate program offered by UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, will definitely help a student successfully search for a job.
The program consists of multiple units focusing on core principles of business, but as far as the job search process goes, the communication unit is incredibly helpful. Going into a career fair feeling prepared and well trained was a huge advantage. Recruiters easily pick up on who feels confident, and those prospects that show confidence make a lasting memory.
The unit gives students some tangible things that they can do to stand out in the midst of a large crowd, which is the essence of campus recruiting. Everything a student does to separate themselves from the rest of the field gives them a leg up when it comes down to selection, and the UBE program makes students aware of some simple advantages.
As my search process ends, I am thankful for the principles that I picked up through the UNC Business Essentials program, and I know my recruitment process benefited because of them.
